Vietnam Tech Community Driven by Engineers Educated in Overseas
Vietnam tech community are being largely driven by some of tech leaders who were educated in overseas.
On 18th June 2024, Viet Engineers Stories community has organized a workshop themed “Generative AI Applications in the real-world” in collaboration with AWS Vietnam.
The workshop has attracted an executive like Danh Luong, Executive MBA who are all the way from Miami, US and some VCs, business owners.
Yes, the majority of engineers in the country are still ingrained with software engineering outsourcing mindset. However, there’s an influx of Vietnamese engineers educated in overseas and returned to Vietnam. They embraced opportunities with GenAI, ML to create new values.
🤓 Quan Nguyen (educated in the States) showed us how multimodal SLMs like LLaVA, Fuyu can achieve admirable results as compared to LLM. He is building an app helping blind people “see” what surrounding them.
🤓 Lai Pham (educated in Korea) shared his vision with building Diaflow as a Zapier for automation business workflows using GenAI.
🤓 Tăng Quốc Thái (educated in Malaysia) has distilled complex topic like “Shift Left DevOps practices for LLMOps” easy to understand to the business audience. In Chong Wei Kee ‘s words “Thai is like a true warrior, he told us what to focus and what not.”
🤓 Nguyen Kien’s message with Locofy.ai is very clear “The tool is not aimed to replace anyone, it just helps making the life of engineers easier.” In one example, a new hired engineer able to build a fullstack app with front and backend within 1 day after being trained on the tool.
🤓 Thi Nguyen Dinh showed us impressive demos with RAG and AI agents on Amazon Bedrock.
