How to get connected to Vietnam Tech Ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City

The Sentry

Over the past decade, Vietnam’s tech and startup ecosystem has rapidly expanded, yet opportunities for individuals to connect within these communities remain limited, hindering collaboration and investment prospects.

The Sentry is most prominent chain of co-working spaces in Ho Chi Minh city at the moment. It’s being known as the “mini Sand Hill Road” in Vietnam. They house over 70 startups, Venture Capitalists and established firms in different sectors, including information technology, finance, creative, venture capital, and e-commerce.

Every first Friday of the month, The Sentry play host to Tech59. The platform is co-founded by The Sentry and Ascend Vietnam Ventures (AVV) in 2024. This platform is dedicated to uniting entrepreneurs, startups, investors, and innovators to bridge critical gaps in Vietnam’s tech ecosystem. They foster a dynamic community that promotes collaboration, unlocks funding opportunities, and empowers emerging talent to connect with industry leaders, driving innovation and shaping the future of the tech industry.

The main man behind The Sentry is Greg Ohan, an expat originally from Armenia who has called Vietnam as home for the past 15 years.

On a recent management training trip, The Sentry and RMIT Vietnam delved into the innovative ecosystem at 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 and 𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗜-𝗧𝗘𝗫𝗫 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺 𝗛𝗮𝘂 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵, gaining insights into the region’s dynamic business landscape.

This visit was also a cornerstone of The Sentry’s 𝗠𝗲𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, designed to catalyze innovation across the Mekong Delta. We got a unique opportunity to witness firsthand the region’s remarkable growth in 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 (𝘽𝙋𝙊/𝙂𝙎𝙎), 𝙖𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 (𝘼𝙜𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝), and 𝙎𝙏𝙀𝙈 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.

AWS Vietnam office located right at the heart of District 1 at 36th Floor, Bitexco Financial Tower, No. 2 Hai Trieu Street. They have an open space designed for hosting tech events, workshops. This space is very vibrant among the community of engineers in Ho Chi Minh City.

The main man behind AWS Vietnam is Nguyen Dinh Thi
